The way I see it…

… photography has a lot to offer. On the other hand, the way that we have manipulated, shared and ultimately derived our personal values from photographs has truly altered the art form’s impact.

For 4 months, my desk was between two incredibly talented professional retouchers and the work I saw them do was absolutely astounding. Stunning models being warped into these impossible, but somehow realistic versions of themselves. I myself struggle to be in front of the camera for fear that I will want to do to myself what I watched these people do to their subjects. The slight shifts and changes they made are etched into the way I now view the world. Having that experience has made me a bit jaded. Now I view every piece of media skeptically. And to some extent I hope that you do too.

But we live in a world filled with so much beauty. We, ourselves, exude so much beauty. Sometimes we just have to step outside ourselves to observe it. That is where I hope to come in.

I prioritize authenticity in my work. Thats not to say I won’t remove a pesky blemish from your portraits, or adjust the saturation, brightness, shadows, hues etc. of a photo. It’s to say I want what I capture to be real. In many instances I want to capture you. And I want that you to be you to your core. I want to preserve a moment in time and exhibit the beauty of it, the beauty you hold within yourself.
